The speed at which the cue ball is travelling and the moment behind it and also the shape of the balls causes it to richochet off the ball. If it was two cubes connecting, the force behind the propelled cube would be transfered mostly into the other cube. Since these are spherical objects, the force is not entirely transfered.

How does behind the eight ball relate to billiards?

When playing the even-odd version of 8-ball in pool, you cannot sink the 8-ball until after all the rest of your seven balls. To be "behind the 8-ball" means that you may not have a clear shot at any of your remaining balls. So the term means that you are in an unfortunate situation or facing a tough problem.

What happens when you kick a ball at rest?

When you kick a ball at rest, the ball will start moving due to the force applied by your kick. The ball's velocity will depend on the force of your kick, its mass, and the surface on which it is rolling. The ball will continue to move until other forces, like friction or air resistance, act on it to slow it down.

A soccer ball collides with another soccer ball at rest The total momentum of the balls?

That would depend on the velocity of the soccer ball not at rest.

What make a moving ball come to rest in a while even if no force is applied?

A moving ball eventually comes to rest due to friction between its surface and the surface it's rolling on. As the ball moves, friction gradually slows it down until it comes to a stop. Without any external force acting on the ball, it will continue to slow down and eventually stop due to this frictional force.

When a ball is at rest all the forces acting on it are?

When a ball is at rest, the forces acting on it are balanced. This means that the force of gravity pulling the ball down is exactly counteracted by the normal force pushing up on the ball from the surface it rests on. As a result, the net force on the ball is zero, and it remains at rest.

What type of energy does a ball at rest have?

A ball at rest has potential energy due to its position relative to a reference point, such as the ground. This potential energy can be converted into kinetic energy when the ball is in motion.

What happens to the motion of an object if no net force acts?

If no net force acts on an object, the object will continue in its current state of motion. This means that if it is at rest, it will remain at rest, and if it is moving at a constant velocity, it will continue moving at that velocity.
