They seem to sell for around 200$ dollars. However, if you want to know if they are worth anything because they were made by hand: they are. My father (and mother) made these in the back of our loft in SoHo, before that area was designated as such. My father designed them, made the molds and poured the pewter for the sets. The pieces were then plated and distressed. The copper chessboards were hand stamped and patinated.
The artisan world may have not caught up with them yet, but the sets are artisan pieces-- so hold on to them, for the love of the set or wait till they are recognized and worth more.
QUERY TO THE ABOVE ANSWER: Do you have any idea where I can find one of these for $200? I've loved them from when I was a child. If you are the son/daughter of Richard Synek, how do I get in touch with you?
