There are 208 squares on a checkerboard

Wrong!

The correct answers is 64 squares

Edit:

There are 64 individual squares in the checker board, 32 black and 32 white. But when it is thought some further, there are larger squares, say 2x2 or 3x3 individual squares, which covers the area of a larger one. Considering all those, there are 208 squares altogether.
