Western Kentucky Rook, (Rook with the Red 1) is very similar to the E. KY Rook in that there are 9 cards dealt and the 5's, 10's, and 14's are point cards. The main differences are the following: 1: The Red 1 is left in the Deck and it is worth 30 pts. It is the most powerful card. Thus, there are 150 pts in a round instead of 120. 2: There are six cards in the widow (what us Western Kentuckians call the nest) instead of 5 and you ARE allowed to put point cards in there. The winner of the last hand wins the widow. The dealer can chose to turn the top card of the widow over before the bidding. 3:If a player receives no point cards, he can request a re-deal 4: Games are typically played to 500 instead of 300. 5: During any bidding round a player can "A player can "Shoot the Moon" and automatically win if they get all 150 pts.
