Through my experience at Harvard University I learned that sports is related to empire building in many different way. Sports helped empires to compete by having competitions like the Olympics; which was started in the ancient Greek empire. The Olympics is still played today, by countries around the world. The new empires of today include college, as well as, the professional game. Some empires in college include: the University of Michigan, University of Southern California, the University of Florida, and the University of Texas. Some empires in the professional game include: the New York Yankees, New England Patriots, Dallas Cowboys, the Detroit Red Wings, the San Antonio Spurs, and the Detroit Pistons.
