No. Elway played his college ball at Stanford.
joe Montana
Almost no one would say that John Elway is the greatest quarterback in NFL history. Names mentioned would usually be Tom Brady, Joe Montana or Peyton Manning.
Maybe Montana,Elway,Brady or Manning.(: not sure.

Phil Simms Doug Williams Joe Montana Brett Favre Chris Chandler
After graduating from Stanford, Elway was a highly coveted athlete in both football and baseball. In 1983, the Baltimore Colts were among the NFL's worst teams, having compiled a 19-53-1 record from 1978-1982. Elway didn't have the desire to play for such a downtrodden franchise, and Elway's father also advised his son not to play for the Colts' head coach Frank Kush. Elway tried negotiating a way out of Baltimore, but after failing to engineer a trade, his agent began circulating rumors that Elway would happily play baseball for the New York Yankees (who had drafted Elway in the 2nd round of the 1981 MLB draft) rather than suit up for the Colts. Eventually the Colts and Denver came to terms on a trade and Elway became a Hall-of-Fame signal-caller for the Broncos.
In my opinion John Elway is the greatest quarterback to ever play. An argument could also be made for Otto Graham, Johnny Unitas, Joe Montana, and some today think it is Tom Brady.
