The 1989 World Series featured the Oakland Athletics beating the San Francisco Giants four games to none. After the A's won games one and two in Oakland, game 3 was to be played at Candlestick Park in San Francisco. At exactly 5:00 PM on October 17th, 4 minutes after the pre-game ceremonies started a 6.9 earthquake hit the area. Commissioner Fay Vincent immediately postponed Game 3. The game was rescheduled, and played on October 27th.
