it is not called a garden its called the td bank north garden

  • it was called the Boston garden until it was torn down and rebuilt as the fleet center and then bought by td bank north and renamed "the garden" again just like New York's Madison Square Garden

The word garden has more than one definition. The first and most common refers to planting, but the second definition in three parts is: 2. a. "A public recreation area or park usually ornamented with plants or trees"; b."An open air eating or drinking place"; c. "A large hall for public entertainment". From French and German.

Some early sports gardens didn't have roofs. Maple Leaf Garden, Boston Garden, Madison Square Garden, and all sports arenas used and use this second meaning when garden is in the name.
