Just think about a soccer ball being a cube!

A soccer ball is round so that there would be smooth edges which therefore causes less friction with the ball and so the frce would spread around more quickly which makes it g further.

It also means that when it hits the ground the force would spread and if it doesn't hit a corner it won't have another force slwing it down(and a round ball doesn't have corners.)

It also means that when you kick a ball, it doesn't hurt your foot by kicking a corner of a ball(try kicking the corner of a wall!)

So it's rund so it's smoother and goes further.
