Why does Wayne Rooney wear gloves while playing football?

Not only Wayne Rooney wear gloves but in winter or when it is cold every player wear gloves, But some players don't.But who are fast in running they wear gloves.Only the elite wear gloves in 93 degrees in the middle of June.

So his hands don't get cold, they are just normal gloves.

Maybe it's because of the weather or there is no short sleeves for England. :)
