As far as Baseball is concerned, leg shaving would more often than not be a personal choice of the player with no obvious direct benefit. Although some players may feel that shaving their legs may reduce the likelihood of their leg hair getting ripped out during sliding? Unlike activities such as swimming or diving where leg and body shaving serves the practical purpose of reducing drag and increasing overall performance, baseball players wear both pants and socks while playing, so shaving one's legs would have a negligible effect as far as performance is concerned.

It might be to reduce the air resistance especially to sprinters. We can see that almost all sprinters shave their hair, and this might also happen to their arms.

Some male athletes that compete in London 2012 have shaved heads and that is for swimming as there hair creates drag and swimming is about efficiency my friend.
