This is because the amount of freethrow you get depends on the shot you take and wether you make it. If you take a 2pt shot and miss you get 2 shots. If you take a 3pt shot and miss you take 3 shots. but if you make the shot your points count and you get an extra shot hence the 1 freethrow

If that person is fouled while he's/she's taking a shot, however if the ball still goes in it's considered a "and-one" they count the two points and you shoot for one extra point, it's called "the three-point play" or "converting the and-one".

When someone gets hit in Basketball a foul is called and if they are shooting the ball at the basket they get to shoot a free throw. A free throw is worth one point and they are shot without jumping from the line about 15 feet straight from the hoop.

If the player is fouled while in the act of shooting and does not make the basket, he will receive two free throws, each worth 1 point. If the player is fouled while in the act of shooting and makes the basket, he is given the basket (2 points or 3 if it is outside the 3 point line) as well as one free throw worth 1 point.

How does a referee in basketball determine how many free shots are awarded when a player is fouled when shooting?

A regular foul is two shots per trip. However, When a person fouls extra hard, and the ref calls a flagerant, the person fouled gets three shots, or, if not in the mode of shooting, gets two shots and the ball. When a person is fouled and makes the shot, they get one free throw. When a technicam foul is called, the player with the best free-throw percentage on the team gets one shot.

It's when a player makes a basket during the normal play of the game. Dunks, layups, jump shots, & 3 point shots are examples of field goals. A free throw is NOT a field goal because it doesn't occur during the normal play of the game.It is when you throw the ball into the basket

How much jump shots does Kobe Bryant shot at practice?

It depends. In the NBA if a player is fouled inside the three point line where all shots are worth 2 points, he'll be awarded two shots at the line. If he's fouled at the three point line he is awarded three shots. However he will only go to the line if he was in the process of shooting if not, no free throw unless the team has a total of four fouls and every foul whether shooting or not is a trip to the free throw line.
