Finding old uniform numbers is tougher than finding a needle in a haystack. I have found out about a book that supposedly has the information you are looking for in it. I say supposedly because I have never seen the book. The book's title is "Uniform Numbers of the NFL: All time rosters, facts and figures" by John Maxymuk. The ISBN number is 0-7864-2057-X. I found that book's title from a forum on nflarchives.com. I noticed your other question concerning number 39 and how maybe it was a kicker. Possibly it was Don Chandler? I have a book on the old Baltimore Colts through 1958 and in it is that classic picture of Alan Ameche on the ground in the end zone after scoring the winning touchdown in the 1958 Championship game. In the picture next to one of the goal posts is a Giant that is wearing #45. Unfortunately, the player's name is not mentioned. All I can say is that it is an African American that looks to be about 6'4" and maybe 210 pounds. I know this doesn't help much. But if I can be of any more help please leave a message on my message board.
