Milan beat Benfica 1 - 0 to win the European Cup in 1990. Since 1992 it has been known as the Champions League. The tournament for international teams was not played in 1990, as it is only played every 4 years, with one in 1988 won by the Netherlands and one in 1992 won by Denmark.
