Two of them were seniors Preston Ridlehuber and Joe Burson. Ridlehuber was an 11th round draft choice of the San Francisco 49ers in the 1966 NFL draft and Burson was an 18th round choice of the Washington Redskins in the same draft. Junior Randy Wheeler was selected in the 13th round by the Buffalo Bills in the 1967 draft.
That was Hall of Famer Charley Taylor who led the team with 402 rushing yards. Other running backs for the Redskins in 1965 were Dan Lewis, George Hughley, and Pervis Atkins.
