Dale Murphy, who played center field and right field for the Atlanta Braves from 1976-1990 was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) in 1975 after being introduced to the religion by a minor-league teammate, Barry Bonnell. Dale became more active in the religion after his Baseball carrier and served as the president of the Massachusetts Boston Mission of the Church from 1997-2000. He now lives in Utah with his wife and eight children.
