He replaced as starting QB after starting QB Kyle Boller was injured, and backup QB Troy Smith was sidelined due to illness. As a result, Flacco started all 16 games of that season, and led the Ravens to the AFC Championship game in January, 2009 against the Steelers. He is the only QB in NFL history to lead his team to the playoffs in his rookie season and win 2 playoff games.
