Yes, many times. Army finished the season No. 1 in the AP Poll (thereby winning a "national championship") in 1944 and 1945. Army also finished 9-0-1 in 1946 and was highly ranked. In its entire history, Army football has finished the season ranked in the AP Poll in 14 different seasons (1943-50, 1953-55, 1957-58, 1996).
