In 1800, the area that is now Kansas was primarily inhabited by various Native American tribes, including the Kansa, Osage, and Pawnee. European exploration and settlement were minimal at that time, as the region was largely untouched by American settlers. The Louisiana Purchase in 1803 would later lead to increased interest and migration into the area. Overall, the population was predominantly Indigenous, with European presence being very limited.
