in Australia the person generally accepted as the greatest prop in Rugby league history is arthur "artie" beetson. a tough no nonsense prop, artie is credited with introducing the offload as a necessary skill of the front row and throwing the first punch in state of origin history (it was against his teammate from parramatta).

Springbok prop, Os Du Randt

While Os, (the OX) du Randt was indeed a very good prop and a stalwart of the Springboks for a long time, any prop who can be effectively flattened by a centre three quarter in open play, (Scott Gibbs, Wales and British Lions), cannot be the best prop ever.

I would rate Tony Woodcock, NZ and Gethin Jenkins, Wales as the two best current prop. And what about the world famous Welsh and British Lions front row of the late 70's including Graham Price, Bobby Windsor and Charlie Faulkner who destroyed any front row they played against.

According to the press, international props who have played against them and players there are two (as there are 2 slightly differing roles in the front row). Both Welsh and play for their countries

Gethin Jenkins - Cardiff, Wales and British Lion.

Adam Jones - Ospeys, Wales and British Lions.

In recent matches against South Africa and the All Blacks both were reportedly held in the highest regard by their opponents.
