Currently the New York Yankees have two Center fielders on the roster. One includes the Vet Johnny Damon who has previously played for the Boston Red Sox and was known for his long hair and long beard before coming to the New York Yankees in 2005 (I believe that was the year). However the Yankees have a Center fielder that came up through their farm system. His name is Melky Cabrera. Recently Cabrera has become the more utilized Center fielder while Johnny Damon has been playing Left field.
In 2010, the Yankees acquired Curtis Grandersonfrom the Detroit Tigers to play center field. Johnny Damon became a free agent and is now playing for the Tigers. Also Melky Cabrera was traded to the Atlanta Braves.
Former Yankee center fielder Kenny Lofton batted and threw left handed.
