I'd take melo over all the small forwards in the east.
Carmelo Anthony takes the hot spot, averaging 28.6 points per game of the first half of this season, and setting the Knicks' record 31 consecutive straight 20+ points, I mean he's absolutely a phenomenal player.
On the other hand, LeBron James is also a great player, but he has not proved to us that he can shoot from wherever he is, at any given moment. Here's an example of his one big flaw:
If you are playing "d" on him, you have to make sure he does not go to his right, cuz if that happens you're finished. Notice, whenever he goes to his left he either shoots the ball, passes the ball to an open man, or lobs it. Whenever he goes to his right he either goes for an AMAZING slam, or he shoots the ball.
Whenever you see him shoot a 3, that's either when he's hot or when he's open.
I agree that if he is open he will bury that shot, but if he is cold he will shoot bricks. LeBron is not at his best in the 4th Quarter, although he has made some game-winners and buzzer-beaters, i would not trust him with the ball towards the end of a close game.
If Melo and LeBron were on my team and we were down by 3, I would give the ball to Melo, cuz 98% of the time he will make it. If we're down by 2 I would let LeBron have it.
So my answer is Carmelo.
