Niall Sturrock is currently the Head of Sport and Recreation at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. An ex-international hockey player for Scotland, he has also coached men's and women's teams in the international arena. He coached the GB Men's team to the Gold Medal in the World University Games in Sheffield in 1991 as well as achieving a Bronze Medal in European Indoor Championships and a Home Countries Championships with the Scotland Women Indoor team. In 1996 he gained an accreditation of FIH Coach from the International Hockey Federation which saw him deliver coaching courses and seminars in Guyana, Taiwan, Greece, Malawi, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados and the Czech Republic. In recognition of the work he was upgraded to FIH Coach Grade 1 (the first Scottish Coach to attain the award) in 2006.
