Don Mattingly was the Yankee first baseman from 1982 to 1995. He played left and right field in his first couple of seasons with the Yankees until a full time move to first base. He then became the Yankee hitting coach from 2004-2006 and Joe Torre's bench coach in 2007. He ended his Yankee career with 2,153 hits. He is currently the Los Angeles Dodgers hitting coach. Don's number 23 was retired by the Yankees in 1997.
