The first draft pick of the Seahawks was DT Steve Niehausof Notre Dame. Niehaus failed to make much of an impact .... he spent three seasons in Seattle before being traded to Minnesota for an 8th round pick. He spent one season in Minnesota and then retired.

The Seahawks were awarded the 2nd overall pick in the 1976 draft, a pick they used on defensive tackle Steve Niehaus.
