While passing the ball in soccer what part of the foot do you use?

Rarely is one part of the foot used universally to pass. Most good players use many parts of their boot depending on the requirements of a pass. For instance if you simply wished to play a short, straight pass where the speed or power was tame, then generally you would use your instep, called a side-foot. If you were playing a longer pass you may use the top of your instep or even laces. If you feel a little fancy or can only use one foot, playing the ball with the outside of your boot obviously gives a degree of curl opposite to that of your instep.

The "conventional" method of passing utilizes the inside of the foot to pass. However, players can pass with any part of the foot, depending on where the intended receiver is located.
