The Philadelphia Phillies of the National league(boo the phillies!). And the American league's amazing Tampa Bay Rays! The Rays had been a last place team without ever having a winning season since joining the MLB in 1998. Then in 2008, they won the toughest division in baseball, beating both the Yankees and the defending champion Red Sox! In fact, every team in that division has won a world series at one time in their existence... besides the Rays. The Red Sox got the wild card. The phillies got through their pre-World Series playoff series with ease. The Rays destroyed the White Sox in their first series, then, they faced the Red Sox in the American league championship series. It went to game 7. In a dramatic outcome, the Rays won! In the World Series the young Cinderella story team was to tired to keep it going against the rested Phillies, losing the series 4 games to 1. But they were still such a surprise that no one will ever forget their magical year.
Double World Series winners include the Chicago Cubs (1907, 1908), the Cleveland Indians (1920, 1948), the Florida Marlins (1997, 2003), the New York Mets (1969, 1986), the Philadelphia Phillies (1980, 2008) and the Toronto Blue Jays (1992, 1993).
