Hall-of-Famer Frank Gifford wore number 16 for the New York Giants from 1952 through 1960 and 1962 through 1964. Gifford was one of the greatest all-purpose players in NFL history, equally effective at running and pass-receiving. He even kicked a few extra points, returned kicks, played defensive back early in his career, and threw 14 touchdown passes. The number 16 was retired by the Giants franchise in Gifford's honor.
