The Centre (player) must be within the centre circle when the centre pass is taken. All players (except the two centres) must be behind the third lines (i.e. not in the centre third) The ball must be received by another player within the centre third.

No particular position has to touch the ball on the way to the shooters. If it is a centre pass, the centre os obviously going to have to touch it, before passing off to either the GA, WA, GD, WD to pass through to the GS or GA. The GS or GA may then shoot the ball

centre passes are important because they can decide which team is going to be having a go at a shot. A centre pass can also help you see if the team is a strong/weak team because if a team performs it well they will win the ball on every centre pass whether it is their team who starts the centre pass or not.
Prior to a game of netball, there will be a toss. The winners of the toss will usually take the centre throw. A game of netball then starts when the winning team's centre (C) has stepped into the circle and thrown the netball.Also all players must be in the correct positions and no feel in the semi circle or into the middle third,except for the centers(c)
