The "pocket" of a Baseball glove is essential where the palm of the hand is. The mesh between the thumb and forefinger is the web. Although the web seems like the logical place to catch a ball, the pocket is much more sound.

Why do some baseball players wear their backpocket inside out?

You know? I don't think their pocket is inside-out but that they have their batting glove(s) stuck in that pocket and they hang out of the pocket which makes it look like it is inside-out.

The best glove for a 6 yr old would be anything soft and with a sizeable pocket. approx. 11inch glove with a pocket to hold a ball. Can you use a softball glove for baseball?

A baseball outfielder glove is usually 12 1/2 to 12 3/4 inches from the tip of the index finger to the heel of the glove. A softball outfielder glove is usually 13 1/2 to 14 inches from the tip of the index finger to the heel of the glove. Since a softball is larger than a baseball, a softball glove will be larger than a baseball glove. However, this doesn't mean that you can't use a baseball glove for playing softball. It just means that you will have less margin of error when catching the softball because of the smaller pocket a baseball glove has.

Is the rawlings longhorn fastback dark brown series glove a softball glove?

No, the glove is intended for baseball, by fielders and pitchers who want a little longer glove for scooping up balls. It can be used for softball, bit does not have a larger pocket that would make a strictly softball glove better.

What are ways to break baseball gloves in?

Use some oil that you buy from a store it is usually called glove conditioner. Put it in the oven for it to work. After that toss a baseball a lot and tie the ball in the glove. dont [ut your glove in the oven the person who said to due that had absolutely know clue what they are talking about you can just put some oil or glove conditioner on it then wrap it with the ball in the pocket but i repeat DO NOT put your glove in the oven it wrecks it.

What is the best way to brake in a baseball glove?

The most natural and best way to do this is to just use the glove. Playing catch is ideal for breaking in a glove, but it can also take a while for it to get worn in all the way. Besides this, they make oil and foam that can be rubbed into gloves to loosen the leather. You can buy these at most sports stores (Dicks sells them for sure). Try putting a baseball in the pocket of the glove, and tying the glove closed over the ball with a rubber band ot string. Keep it this way for several hours (overnight).

Why do baseball players remove a finger from their glove and extend it outside?

That is a personal preference and done mainly for comfort. There is no advantage nor disadvantage in doing it .... some players just feel more comfortable with the finger outside the glove. The index finger is closest to the pocket of the glove so you get more padding by having it outside the finger of the glove.

How do you bake a baseball glove?

First, oil or spray your glove down good. Then, place in the oven at 325 to 350 for 3 to 5 minutes, depending on stiffness of leather. Pull it out of the oven and rub off excess oil. As soon as you feel you can place your hand inside the heated glove do so. (I recommend a batting glove of some sorts for this part.) Once your hand is in work it a couple of times then place a baseball or softball in the pocket and close the glove as if you were making a catch and tie the the glove in this position. Then, let the glove sit for 4 or 5 hours. Untie the glove and work it for 30 minutes. Repeat as necessary.
