Peter Simpson played cricket for Nelson in the Lancashire League during the period 1964-66. He played a total of 18 games over two seasons but was never in the first choice X1. Peter was a very capable medium pace seam bowler who took a total of 49 wickets during his brief career. He also played for Northern Universities, returning figures of 5-52 against the Midlands in 1966.

I played with Peter Simpson for Northern Universities in 1967-68 season, and I think this was the first season he played for them, not in 1966. I didn't play in the game against the Midlands but I did play against the Scottish universities' side at Chester-le-Street cricket club when Peter was playing. (Johnny Bentley)

If this is the same Peter Simpson which I remember he was in the first choice eleven but couldn't commit to playing on a regular basis because he was at college during the mid to late 1960s. He wasn't much of a batsman but could plant a 'chinaman' anywhere you liked around the crease. Where is he now? [Melvyn C.]
