If you want a more complete answer, most wide receivers did not wear gloves from the start of football through the 70s and into the 80s. It was a relative rarity until the mid-80s, and it was a big deal that every member of the Redskins "Posse" wore them in the mid-late 80s. Even then, the gloves were nothing like the heavily tackified and sticky gloves that players today wore. Basically, the trend started in the late 80s, but they have become more and more of a tool used for making acrobatic, one-handed catches since the 90s and early 2000s. A fair number of players have admitted to it significantly aiding them in catching the ball today.
Cutter's C-Tack is the top end material for grip when it comes to football gloves, therefore the Cutters original receivers gloves would be better than the Under Armour Blitz II.

receivers change their gloves after every series. There is a large box of gloves for each 1st and 2nd team player. When they come off the field they go to their box and put on a new pair of gloves. The used gloves are then sent off to high schools around the US.
Typically receivers don't close their gloves because their hands have to snap shut around the ball and closing the back of the glove hinders how fast the hands can close. As a simple illustration, try on a pair of receiver gloves and try to make a fist with the gloves with the backs closed then with them open. You should be able to feel the greater freedom and quickness when closing down on the ball.
I do not have any football gloves and thus by the rules of mathematical logic the question is not posed.
Two good brands of football gloves are Under Armour and Cutters.
there are lots of different football gloves for center/linemen heres a link to a page with football gloves make sure to scroll down that's were the lineman gloves are i would personally recommend the nfl equipment smash football gloves (one of my teammates had this and the grip was nice) (however i do play wide receiver and corner back so i am not an expert, but i do know a lot about football equipment) a lot of centers also wear half finger gloves which are on this page http://www.weplaysports.com/football/gloves/

original C-TACK receiver gloves
nike magnigrip elite remix gloves all one color *Edit* You are actually incorrect, sir. The gloves Randy Moss wears are Cutters Receivers Gloves. His are bright red with white C-Tack (grip). They have the NFL Equipment Logo because Cutters are not a licensed brand of the NFL so they cannot have their Logo shown (therefore he has the all reds so the logo doesnt show).
