Back in 1946 the BBC televised live the second half of Barnet's game against Wealdstone from Underhill - the first televised broadcast.

Rugby has been sown on TV since the early 1960s. These were normally at international level then League televised club match became very popular - this pushed the Union code to fight for TV space as well.
Wales' first International Rugby Union match was played on February 19th 1881.
It would appear to have been in 1937.

Possibly Tui Faagase for the Waitemata Seniors in Auckland Club Rugby. The match was the first of the first season when 5 point tries were introduced. I believe the game was played on a Friday night as some Auckland club matches were televised that season. This would have meant that the game was played before other club rugby in New Zealand which is traditionally played on a Saturday afternoon.
