When the ball goes out of play off of the defending team, the attacking team is awarded with a corner kick. They can play the ball in short, or send a cross into the box for the forwards to get a header or volley it in.

Trust me, I'm a ref.

In soccer you when the ball goes out pass the goal. It is a corner kick.

So first you would.

  1. put the soccer ball where you want it on the corner lines near the flag.
  2. Then you try to kick to where you team member are near the other goal
  3. So last you kick the ball and hope that one of your other team members kicks it in for you.

It's a flag on the corner of a soccer field which helps the referee and linesmen to see if the ball is still in play.

corner kicks in soccer are won if the defending team puts the ball out of play on their back line whereas goal kicks are if the offending team puts the ball behind their attacking goal
