Roger Hagberg played college football at the University of Minnesota, then went to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, playing for them in the 1962 Grey Cup. He was with the Oakland Raiders from 1965 to 1969, playing in the second World Championship game, against the Green Bay Packers, making Hagberg the first man to play in both a Grey Cup game and a Super Bowl.
My father actually did play in the 1937 Grey Cup Game, his first of seven Grey Cup appearances, but I'll resist the temptation to claim he was the MVP of the game. In fact no MVP awards were made back in the 30s. Record keeping was minimal, and was generally restricted to scoring. The first Grey Gup MVP award went to Charlie Sheppard of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 1959.
