You only get a point if you served the ball. So it would be the serving team. Only if your team serves and gets it in and if they other team returns it and it keeps going back and forth whatever side it hits the ground first. and whatever side it hits the ground it is the other teams ball unless it was out of bounds.
every rally will end in a point. If there is a net violation ( touching the net) a point will go to the other team. If the server serves and it goes out of bounds, the other team will obtain a point. If the ball is served over, and it ends in an ace (when the ball is served and no one touches it) the team will receive a point and the server will continue to serve. And if the ball is sent over either by a hit, pass, set, tip or anything else and the ball is not returned the other team will get a point. Also if their is any violation of any rule ( foot fault, out-of -rotation, lift, etc.) the point will go to the team that did not commit the violation.
