The Toronto "Arenas", who did not have an official nickname, won the Stanley Cup in 1918 after the NHL's inaugural season. They defeated the Vancouver Millionaires of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association (PCHA) 3 games to 2. In 1919 they became the Toronto St. Pats and in 1927 they were renamed the Maple Leafs.
