Dribbling the ball was not possible until the invention of the orange Basketball that we are familiar with today which was in the mid 1950s. The balls used previously were lopsided and you could not control the bounce and the direction the ball would go once bounced. As far as who invented the idea of dribbling the ball and when that was first allowed and who created the rules for dribbling the ball in the beginning that seems to be a great mystery I personally have searched the web and can't find a clear answer to those questions. If you know please share! Prior to the orange ball which made dribbling possible the ball would be simple passed from one player to another with the ball being bounced sometimes once between players on the pass. So since it was not allowed to Dribble to start with someone had to invent it but for the life of me I can't find out who! Do you know?
When basketball was first created players were not allowed to dribble the ball.
No, that would be called double dribble and yes if you receive the ball, stop then you can bounce.
It's when you bounce the ball.
so you can dribble the basketball
It means to dribble the ball and pick it up again and dribble it.
Traveling: you cannot take over 2 steps with the basketball in your hands with out dribbling Double Dribble: After you get the ball and dribble, if you pick the ball up again you cant dribble
you do not have to pass the ball, but you do if you stop your dribble
yes
Yes, according to the basketball rules and regulations, you are only allowed to bounce the ball off your opponent only to use to brake a double dribble.
Of course not! The only thing that will affect the dribble or shot projection of the ball is based on how well you are able to handle the ball.
Lines on a Basketball The reason why there are lines on a basketball is to improve a player's grip making it easier to dribble and shoot the ball. The lines on basketballs make them easiar to grab and hold, allowing players to shoot, dribble, and pass better.
you can only dribble 3 times in european hand ball and in Basketball you can have unlimited dribbling :)
