The Leafs last won the cup in 1967, this was also the last year in which they appeared in the finals... prior to that they won it 12 other times in 1918, 1922, 1932, 1942, 1945, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1951, 1962, 1963 and 1964

The 1940s are considered the club's golden age with stars like Syl Apps, Turk Broda, and Ted Kennedy among others

The 1960s squad included standouts like Dave Keon, Tim Horton, Red Kelly, Johnny Bower and Frank Mahovlich to name but a few

SInce 1967, the team has had several promising eras in the mid 70s with Darryl Sittler, Borje Salming and Lanny MacDonald and again in the mid 90s with Doug Gilmour and a strong supporting cast... since then, the team has had only a few good seasons and in recent years has struggled mightily... they remain one of the most popular NHL teams regardless with a fervent fan following, largely in Ontario
