There have been a number of different scoring values assigned over the years. In 1882 a touchdown was 2 points, a field goal 5 points, and a extra point 4 points, from 1883 to 1887 it was TD 4 pts, FG 5 pts, and XP 4 pts. From 1888 to 1897 it was 4, 5, and 2, respectively. From 1898 to 1903 it was 5, 5, and 1. From 1904 to 1908 it was 5, 4, and 1. From 1909 to 1911 it was 5, 3, and 1. From 1912 to 1957 it was 6, 3, and 1. From 1958 to the present it has been 6 for a TD, 3 for a FG, 1 for an XP. and 2 for a XP by run or pass.
