The Giants have won the World Series twice. The first time was in 1959 when they were the New York Giants. Then they moved to San Fransico,CA and won there first and only world series in San Fransico this year. The world series began on October 27 and ended on November 4 this year. The Giants were playing in San Francisco in 1959, but they did not win the World Series that year -- the Los Angeles Dodgers did. The New York Giants won the World Series in 1905, 1921, 1922, 1933, and 1954.
The Texas Rangers lost the las two World Series. This year, 2011, they lost to the St. Louis Cardinals. Last year, 2010, they lost to the San Francisco Giants.
The World Series is a best 4 out of 7 event. Since the Giants won their fourth game against Texas in the fifth game of the 2010 World Series, the Series ended with the Giants declared the winner.
The catch was made in 1954 World Series
The Texas Rangers have never won a World Series despite back-to-back appearances in 2010 and 2011. They lost the 2010 World Series in five games to the San Francisco Giants. A year later, they lost the 2011 World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals.
Its hard to go against the Yankees but go Giants.
Yes and no. I'm a Yankee fan, so I was wanting them to be in the World Series like last year. But, since they lost to the Rangers, I was rooting for the Phillies. Since the Giants beat them, I'm for the Giants- but only because I think the Strike Out King is hot.
Before the 2010 season, the Giants last World Series championship was in 1954, when they were in New York and Willie Mays patrolled centerfield at the Polo Grounds. The Giants swept the Cleveland Indians 4-0 that year. It didn't take quite as long for San Francisco to claim its second world championship in the Bay Area. The Giants won the 2012 World Series, sweeping the Detroit Tigers in four games.
The Texas Rangers made back-to-back World Series appearances in 2010 and 2011. They lost the 2010 World Series in five games to the San Francisco Giants. A year later, they lost the 2011 World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals.
