Being a viking was not a full time job, nor was a it culture unto itself. The people who went aviking were farmers, blacksmiths, fathers, statesmen, poets, and the children of chieftains and lords. They farmed, they smithed, they raised their crops and pigs and cows and children. They played a board game kinda like Chess called tafl, had competitions of poetry, honored and sacrificed to their gods, made wine and mead and enjoyed life as much as anyone else.
