When was the first womens basketball game?
No. Women's basketball began in 1892 at Smith College when Senda
Berenson, a physical education teacher at Smith, modified James
Naismith's rules for women. Naismith invented basketball in late
1891. In 1895, the game of netball was invented by Clara Gregory
Baer. Netball was derived from basketball and designed to be a non
contact sport. Women were very instrumental in helping to develop
and popularize the game of basketball.
