The antenna in volleyball is to determine if the ball is in or out. If a team makes a play from outside of the court, the ball must travel in between the two antennas to be a legal play. Line judges are responsible for calling any balls that aren't inside of the antennas. Another thing, if the ball hits the antenna, it is called out.

Kimberylylynn..... your an idiot...... and your wrong..... (she was the one that wrote that answer up above, which is clearly wrong) the antennas are for the refs to control the cameras for HD replay

on either side on the net, there are two red and white rods that are called antennas. If the ball touches the antenna in the middle of a play or travels across the net on the outside of the antenna, the play is considered dead and the point is awarded to the opposing team.

The antenna is attached to the net directly above sidelines of the court. It allows for the officials to see if the ball was hit or passed within the bounds of the court.

They are the two sticks that stick up at each side of the volleyball net. They line up with the out line! It's just there to show whether a ball is out or not!
