Soccer players have to wear jerseys of the same color to their team, and different to their oppenents color. The Goalkeeper must wear a different color than his/her own team. Each player must wear soccer cleats, shinguards*, and socks that cover the shinguards. Goalkeepers are permitted to wear goalkeeper gloves.

* also known as shin pads

A soccer player wears the required uniform which consists of the jersey(shirt), the team shorts, and team socks. Underneath the socks are shinguards. You need to wear shingaurds because to protect you from getting kicked. And finally, spikes. If you wear regular gymshoes you will slip. Even if it is not wet.

Soccer athletes are quite lightly in comparison to other games of similar physical nature. They only wear their kits - shirts and shorts, boots and shin pads.
