Trapping in volleyball refers to a situation where a player fails to cleanly receive a serve or a hit, causing the ball to momentarily come to a stop or to be redirected in an unintended manner. This can result in a loss of possession or a point for the opposing team. Trapping often occurs when a player's platform or arms are not properly positioned to absorb the impact of the ball, leading to a less controlled contact. It is important for players to focus on maintaining a stable platform and proper footwork to avoid trapping errors.

trapping in volleyball is when the setter sets the ball to tight to the net. where he/she would put the ball so close to the net that their hitter's only option would be to hit the ball into the block.
