A drop goal is when a player receives the ball, drops it to the ground and kicks it off the bounce through the posts in front of them. If a player misses kicking the ball after it bounces, it would be called as a knock-on.

There is no field goal (this is an american football term) the Terms is - Penalty Goal where a player kicks the ball over the crossbar of the defending team - There is also a Try Conversion which can only happen following a team scoring a try - The scoring team then can attempt to kick the ball over the defending goal post
