A 1981 match between Collingwood and St. Kilda saw an 89m goal kicked by Jeff Fehring of St. Kilda, minutes after he was reported. He received a free kick and torpedoed an 86m kick, which bounced an extra three metres for a goal. It was one of only three of Fehring's goals in a 22 game career.

Although, Dave McNamara, a 1910-1920 St.Kilda player, was capable of extremley long kicks. His personal best is said to be 96m. Although in one game, he kicked a 100m behind. But one time, it was said he kicked a goal from half-back.

Albert Thurgood holds the personal record in long kicks, with a 98.58 monster, wind-assisted kick in 1899. Thurgood himself was one of Essendon's best players, and longest kicks ever.
