A 1981 match between Collingwood and St. Kilda saw an 89m goal kicked by Jeff Fehring of St. Kilda, minutes after he was reported. He received a free kick and torpedoed an 86m kick, which bounced an extra three metres for a goal. It was one of only three of Fehring's goals in a 22 game career.
Although, Dave McNamara, a 1910-1920 St.Kilda player, was capable of extremley long kicks. His personal best is said to be 96m. Although in one game, he kicked a 100m behind. But one time, it was said he kicked a goal from half-back.
Albert Thurgood holds the personal record in long kicks, with a 98.58 monster, wind-assisted kick in 1899. Thurgood himself was one of Essendon's best players, and longest kicks ever.

There is no set length that an AFL oval has to be. The longest current oval is Patterson's stadium also known as Subiaco and the shortest is the SCG. Most oval are around 150m.
