There are two different types of slalom poles known as the 'stubby gate' and the regular 'long pole'. Stubby poles are about 24in tall. The height of the gate is not all showing when it is in use. About 1/4 to 1/2 of the gate is screwed in the snow. Stubby gates are used for younger racers, and for some training purposes. The reagular long pole is about 6 feet tall. These gates are used for older racers and for other traing purposes.

It is a bar in high jump. Pole in pole vault. The height of the bar depends on what grade you are in and the size of your school. It also gets higher every time a person passes that height until they can't jump it anymore

Volleyball poles need to be 8 feet 4 inches to support a regulation net height of 7 feet 11 5/8 inches (men) or 7 feet 4 1/8 inches (women). Co-ed rules use the men's height.
